According to the National Coalition of Girls Schools (NCGS), there are many benefits to single gender education, including high academic achievement, improved self-confidence, and increased college enrollment. The NGCS Young Alumnae Survey characterizes an all girls' school as a place where academics come first in culture of achievement. Until GLAAZ opened its doors in 2010, the only single gender educational options in Arizona have been private or parochial, which can often be cost-prohibitive for families.
GLAAZ is an NCA/AdvancEd accredited public charter high school - the only FREE single gender high school in Arizona.
GLAAZ offers the following benefits:
- Small class size
- Early college access
- Award winning staff and administrations
- Highly qualified and certified teachers
- Support for students including tutoring, AVID and a weekly advisory program
- Relevant curricula including service learning, civic engagement and internship opportunities
The faculty and staff of GLAAZ are committed to empowering young women to be enthusiastic and influential contributors to their world.

WHY GIRLS LEADERSHIP?
As the only public all-girls high school in the state of Arizona, we offer a unique opportunity for your daughter to develop leadership skills while pursuing a rigorous academic course load. Our teachers work hard to tailor instructional delivery to meet the unique needs and learning styles of girls in a safe and collaborative environment.
Girls Leadership Academy also offers AVID - a curriculum available to all students that helps them develop the skills they need to be successful in college. AVID focusing on organizational skills, critical reading strategies, ECAP requirements, as well as the college admissions and financial aid processes.
We bring college classes to you! GLAAZ partners with Phoenix College, bringing their college professors to our campus to teach college level courses to our students. Under concurrent enrollment, students earn credit for both high school and college. This is a unique opportunity for students to experience what college classes are really like. Because GLAAZ covers the tuition, this is a huge savings towards a college education.
We offer four sports - basketball, soccer, softball and volleyball. We are also members of the Canyon Athletic Association. In addition, we offer a wide variety of clubs, including: Be a Leader, Student Government, ACT/SAT Test Prep Club, Girls Achieving Leadership Skills (GALS - a community service based club), Yearbook Club and more. As we strive to develop the leadership skills of our students, we encourage them to create and maintain clubs and activities centered around their interests.
